Ben Ain is another model that has great scope for further detailing, and is a very popular model in our range.

The model is ideal for converting to steam power due to its excellent access and guidance is provided on motor and propeller sizes along with stand section drawings.

Ben Ain was one of 4 vessels to the same basic design by Manchester Dry Docks company Ltd, Ellesmere Port. Starting her long career as Yard no. 73 being laid down to the builders own account in 1919. She was launched as the Doris Thomas in March 1924. She was later sold in 1936 and renamed Dennis head. she was sold again in 1938, and was renamed Ben Ain in 1939. Her eventual demise was in 1963, being one of the last single hatch steam coasters on the Irish sea.

There is a photo of her in service in the slideshow opposite, which although of poor quality gives a good representation of the full size.
